Most people meet Talkify one piece at a time. Someone hears the agent answer a mate's phone, or sees it book a job into Fergus, or gets a text summary of a call they never took. Each piece makes sense. What is harder to see is how they fit together.
So we made a short film that takes one ordinary call and pulls it apart. It runs just under three minutes. If you would rather read, everything in it is below.
Watch it: one call, taken apart
It starts with one call
A woman rings Harbour Plumbing in Nelson. Her kitchen tap is leaking and she wants someone out this week. The plumber is under a house. The phone is answered on the first ring anyway: "Kia ora, you've reached Harbour Plumbing. How can I help?"
The agent asks for her name and address, nothing she has already said, and books her in for Thursday morning. She gets a text with the details. The whole call takes under a minute, and nobody at Harbour Plumbing stopped what they were doing.
That is the part people notice. Here is what happened underneath it.
It knew the business
The agent knew what Harbour Plumbing does, its hours, its prices and where it works. None of that was guessed. It was read from the business's own website when the agent was set up, then checked and filled in with the owner. When something changes, the owner changes it, and the next caller hears the new answer.
It booked into the system the business already uses
The agent checked the real diary, found Thursday morning free and put the job there. Not in a separate Talkify calendar that someone has to copy across later, but straight into the calendar or job system the business already runs on.
This is the part most answering services cannot do, and it is where we have put the most work.
Direct, not a Zapier zap on the side
A lot of AI receptionists "integrate" by handing your call to a Zapier zap or a webhook, which passes it to another service, which eventually writes something into your software. Every hop is something that can break quietly, usually at night, and usually without anyone finding out until a customer turns up for a booking that is not in the diary.
We build and run every one of our integrations ourselves, straight into your system. That matters on a live call:
- It books into your real diary. The agent sees what is actually free while the caller is on the line, not a copy from an hour ago.
- It knows who is ringing. A returning customer is recognised from your own records, so they are not asked for everything again.
- The job lands where your team already works. In your job system, your practice software or your CRM, ready to go.
- There is nothing in the middle to break. If something goes wrong, it is ours to find and fix.
We also work directly with the companies behind that software, so each integration is built the way they intended rather than worked around. You can see them all on the integrations page. For anything we do not connect to yet, there is still Zapier and our own API.
Then you hear about it
The moment the call ends, the business gets a text and an email with who rang, what they wanted and what was done about it. The enquiry also becomes a lead, so a call that did not end in a booking is still there to follow up rather than lost in a notebook.
Texts and website chat, with the same agent
The same agent answers text messages to your number and the chat on your website. Same knowledge, same rules, same bookings. A customer can ask "are you open Saturday?" by text at ten at night and get a proper answer.
After hours, and real emergencies
After hours the phone is still answered. Most calls can wait for the morning, and the agent books them in or takes the details. A real emergency is different: a burst pipe at two in the morning is put through to whoever is on call, and keeps going down the roster until someone accepts the job. More on that on our after hours page.
It makes calls too
Not every business needs its phone answered. Some need calls made. The same agent can ring your own customers for service reminders, quote follow-ups and win-backs, and ring a web enquiry back within a minute of the form arriving. It only calls your own lists, only at the hours you set, and anyone who asks not to be called again is not. See outgoing calls.
All of it in the Talkify app
Every call, every lead and your diary are in the Talkify app on your phone. When you want to take a call yourself, your business number can ring the app, so you answer as the business, not from your personal mobile.
Setting it up is a conversation
You do not fill in a long form. You tell Copilot about your business, and it builds your agent as you talk. If you would rather not, our team will build it for you.
It gets better, and it stays here
Every call is marked against what you count as a good one. If something is not right, you tell us and it gets fixed.
Your calls are handled in New Zealand and Australian data centres, and nowhere else, recordings and transcripts included. And there is a real team here whenever you need one.
Try it on your own business. You can start free and hear your own agent answer before you change anything about your phones, or book a demo and we will walk you through it.
Stop reading. Talk to it.
